smps is a kind of dc-dc converter.
smps are very sensitive and compact and they are free of
ripple content in there output.thats why there are used in
most ofthe electronics devices today.
smps also works on ac supply
ac-supply--->rectifier---->dc-dc converter--->filter---->o/p
