What is the function of PMG in DG sets & how it
works??????????
Answer Posted / jeff b.
A pmg is a Permanent Magnet Generator. It is a small
generator that is typically on the same shaft as the main
generator rotor. Since it utilizes permanent magnets, no
external source is required to excite the PMG to produce an
output. It thus becomes a source (a small generator) whose
output is used to provide power to the automatic voltage
regulator and excitation to the main generator field.

At the starting of dc motor and syn.motor and induction motor high current flowing through the winding. Due to this the windings burnt out. To avoid this different types of starters are used. But incase of transformer what Will be used (At starting no emf is induced in the primary winding)?
