when a solid shaft is subjected to tension its linear
dimension changes equaly as its lateral dimension, then what
will be its poissons ratio?
Answer Posted / pushkar
The above Answers r wrong.
The answer is Ratio of "Original Length to Original
Daimeter"
Because Poissons ratio=Strain(lateral)/Strain(linear)
Strain(lateral)=change in diameter/original diameter
Strain(linear)=change in length/original length
Dimention change is equal means change in diameter = change
in length.
Hence Poissons ratio=original length(L)/original diameter(D)
