One methode is use a Clamp-on meter which is capable to
measure DC current also.
For small amount of currents(say upto 5 or 10 ampere)we can
connect one suitable range ammeter in series with the
circuit.
If the amount of current is too high( say 100s of ampere)
we can use series resistors and by measuring the voltage
drop across this resistance with a voltmeter, we can
calculate the corresponding current flow thrugh the power
cable.
