Peer Review:
A review of a S/W work product by colleagues of the
producer of the product for the purpose of identifying
defects and improvements. Also called as buddy review or
buddy check. Examples are Inspection, Technical review and
Walkthrough.

Walkthrough:
- A step by step presentation by the author of a document
in order to gather information and to establish a commom
understanding of its content.

- A walkthrough is useful for higher-level documents such
as requirement specifications and architectural document.

- It is a semi-formal meeting.

- The Author does most of the preparation. All the
participants will just come for meeting. 2-7 people are
involved.

- The meeting is let by Author.

- the output if the meeting is Defect Report.

Technical Review:
- A peer group discussion activity that focuses on
achieving consensus on the technical approach to be taken.

- It is a less formal review

- It is a documented defect-detection process that involves
peers and technical experts.

- It is often performed by a peer reivew without managment
participation.

- Ideally it is led by a trained moderator, but also led by
a technical experts.

Inspection:
- It is the most formal review type.

- The document under inspection is prepared and checked
throughly by the revievers before the meeting, comparing
work product with its sources and other reference
document,and using rules and checklists.

- In this meeting the defects found are logged and any
discussion is potponed untill the discussion phase.

- Usually led by trained moderator(certainly not by the
author)

- It helps to remove defects efficiently , as early as
possible.

- improve product quality.

- train new employees in the organization's development
process.
