statistics is used for different purposes in production by
different groups like production, quality,
planning,inventory control, purchase etc.
Statistics help them know the trend pattern of the
production volue in workinh shifts , efficiency of a
machine, process rejections, deviation from the qualty
standards, forecasting material procurement, forecasting
production rate , taking qulaity control measures in
process etc.

Let’s say we live in a country that gets very cold, in Northern America / Europe. In winter, we monitor the ouside temperature, so that heaters can be switched on, inside the house.
