Why does a body weigh more at the poles than at the equator?
Answer Posted / daniel sweetlin
When the body is at the equator it is subjected to the
force of attraction of the lower and upper hemispheres of
the earth (in opposit directions). The horizontal component
of their forces cancel each other. In the case of poles,
the entire mass of earth acts only towards one direction.
