what happen when ac motor is connected with dc current
Answer Posted / anthony
1)motor won't run since the ac motors operate on
distributed winding principle in which there is a continous
shift of magnetic priority in space and since dc is not
having any phase sequence , it won't run at all .
2) the problem with dc is that the value of dc current is
always constant . hence the I*2 R losses(Watts)continue to
remain constantly at the same value and when multipied by
the time "t" , would give us a heat liberated of (I*2* R*t)
joules whch wil continue to build up with time for a
constant load drawn . this will cause burning of the
winding.
