Banking dates back to 1786, the first bank established in
India, then the nationalisation of banks in 1969 and
recently the liberalisation of the same since 1991.

Bank of India was founded in 1906 in Mumbai. It became the
first Indian bank to open a branch outside India in London
in 1946 and the first to open a branch in continental Europe
at Paris in 1974.
