what is thinclient? why we use? and how to install
thinclient? basic requirement?
Answer Posted / shekhar bijjuri
A thinclient is a computer without OS, HDD in it to access
particular applications from the remote server. It is
basically used to lower the cost and it uses the Terminal
server in windows 2003 server. The thin client computer
contains enough information to start up and connect to a
more powerful network server.
Thinclients will come with embedded OS like XWINDOWS on its
EPROM or Flash and it will contain sufficient RAM. We have
to configure the network connection according to the
terminal server so that it can fetch the OS from that
server.
Basic requirement is to avoid the CD-ROM, USB and other
external devices to secure network and it is more
economical than a computer as it needs only one OS license
along with the Terminal server licenses.
