Why we are mostly using a single 3-phase transformer
instead of three 1-phase transformers?
Answer Posted / serwox
Reasons are as follows:
Efficiency of one 3 phase transformer is slightly higher
than the overall efficiency of three single phase transformers.
Space and weight is greater for the 3 single phase tx than 1
single 3 phase tx hence cheaper to transport a 3 phase tx.
