tell 2 reasons for why only copper is used in domestic
wires& only alluminium in transmission lines ?
Answer Posted / lakshman
1. copper has better conductivity than alluminium.good
conducters dont produce magnetic flux that is inducyance of
copper is neglegible.as we domestic loads are operate
nearly unity power factor condition much reactive power is
not needed.so copper is suitable for domestic loads.
but transmission lines have to carry reactive power copper
is not suitable .alluminium is used as its inductance is more.
