why there is need to provide shear reinforcement?give the

Shear reinforcement is usually provided in the form of
stirrups to hold the longitudinal reinforcement and also to
take the shear to which the structure is subjected to.Even
if shear reinforcement is not required, a minimum has to be
provided as per IS : 456.
