as to specify an amino acid different from that normally
located at a particular position in the protein.

A triplet codon codes for a single amino acid..
in case of missense mutation(a point mutation),a single
nucleotide is changed, resulting in a codon that codes for
a different amino acid
The triplet codon now codes for a different amino acid..In
some cases it results in a non functional protein.
