Cause: In an EXEC SQL VAR statement, a VARCHAR or VARRAW
external datatype was specified without a length. Unlike
other types, the maximum length of the data field must be
specified for VARCHAR and VARRAW.

Action: Add a length specification to the EXEC SQL VAR
statement.
