can we say zygospore in spirogyra as a resting spore?

can we say zygospore in spirogyra as a resting spore?..

Answer / swapna

Yes in one way we can say that it is a resting stage.

But in this stage only active cell divisions takes place.

So that's why it is reasonable to say that it is more
appropriate that it is in active stage preparing for
germination rather than in resting stage.
