Network Access Control Lists (NACLs) are stateless, rule-based network firewall structures that filter traffic entering an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). Security Groups, on the other hand, are stateful and allow rules to control both inbound and outbound network traffic for instances within a VPC. NACLs are associated with a subnet, while security groups are associated with individual instances.
