What is umbilical cord?

What is umbilical cord?..

Answer / Ashish Shukla

The umbilical cord is a flexible, tube-like structure that connects the developing embryo or fetus to the placenta within the uterus. It consists of three main blood vessels: two arteries carrying oxygenated blood from the placenta to the baby and one vein returning deoxygenated blood back to the placenta. The umbilical cord is cut after birth, leaving a stump that eventually dries up and falls off.
