when request is synchronous we can go for Adapter

Asynchronous communication BW is better

Answer / swamy

Adapter component is used to extract/publish the data from legacy system or from data store.

A Bw component/activity is used to perform a task it is ment for like writing to file or publishing message to Queue etc.
