MAC is the short form used for macintosh operating system which is proprietary of apple where as Windows is the proprietary operating system of Microsoft.

These both are the operating systems. But MAC (Macintosh) is specially designed for apple desktops, laptop and notebooks and this is the proprietary of Apple. This operating system can not be run or work for any other hardware except apple's.
And in other hand windows is the proprietary of Microsoft it is designed for all computer devices. Mostly normal computer are run on it now these days.
