If we consider paper2,paper3,paper4,out of 15 questions
2*8=16,2*7=14,2*6=12,4*5=20,2*4=8 and 3*3=9,total=79. on
and average 240 plus paper 5 marks we can add 110 .For
essay paper we can expect 80.so Grand total=430 for an well
done candidate.it varies from paper to paper.one thing
every body saying i got 450,460,470 etc. This time all
papers are in general nature.questions demanding some
conceptual clarity.iam not able to do answer well for the
last 3 questions because of time constraint.i think this
was the problem for every body.please dont exaggarate
scores. iam expecting 420 to 430.

Venky you are right.
It is extraordinary if any one is getting 460+.
The quality really deteriorated as we move from first
question to last question.
So, i feel that one can expect call if you are getting 420
and above.

I have written Group-1 first time. Can't predict the marks
what I might get for P-I, II, III and also IV. Only paper
where we can nearly predict is Paper-V. I have no idea how
you guys (i mean the person who started this thread) are
able to pinpoint the score. It all depends on the APPSC's
model answer paper, examiner's interest to go through and
understand our writing (:-)). As everybody notices,
questions are more generic but examiner looses interest if
our answer is generic and common. Probably if the examiner
sees some thing different then such kind of answer might
get bit extra marks. Paper V is bit easy and it doesn't
give any good fetch for Engg and Science background. Its
purposefully done to equavalise all backgrounds.
One thing is sure - Paper-I is deciding factor. Who ever
scores high in Paper-I will lead the rank as Paper-IV is
also generic and Paper-V is easy so no specific advantage
to Engg background. So Arts and journalism guys who writes
well the essays might lead the ranks.
I am from Engg Background.

I think, it should be around 460 for open category and 440
for reserved category.
Paper-1 was bit tough paper
Paper2- (History was easy, Polity was tough)
Paper3- (Average)
Paper4-(Average)
Paper5- (Easy)
So the cutoff would be around 460 for general and 440 for
reserved category.
Please share others expected scores as well....
Regards,
Sridhar

Hi, my score in the previous attempt was 370 and the cut off for OC was 420. And the total number of posts was 192.
But now, the number of posts increased to 210. Therefore the cut off may remain around 420-430, because by and large the nature of questioning remained the same with only change in the paper number.
By the was what is the max. mark/ answer awarded?

The general scoring in essay can be around 60 and for
history around 75, and economy 80 and science 80 of many
aspired candidates.
even though maths paper is easy to go, but the first
question in the second section and the questions in
section - iii may not yield good answers. i expect the
average for paper - 5 will be 100 for qualified candidates.
in the last 2008 group-1 exams general category men were
called for 420 and above.the highest written marks for all
catergories is 481.
History 101 (highestmarks)
Economy - 110 (highest marks)
Science - 127 (")
Mathematics - 120 (")
Essay - 116 (")
The above data can be calculated from the marks list
released by APPSC for the 2008 exam.
none of the candidates who got highest marks are not
selected since they got fewer marks in other subjects.
so overall performance is important.
so we can expect the total marks may go up to 500 or 510.
i expect the cutoff to be 440 - 450
