As per my knowledge rfc is a programming interface for
making remote calls between programs located on different
sap system;
functions which are developed or exist in a system can be
remotely called by another local programs.
Rfc is a protocol which helps for data manipulation and
load balancing between the systems
and we can check or create rfc of sap System through sm 59

RFC-T code-SM59 is used to communicate between SAP system and SAP to Non-SAP system using TCP/IP protocol, RFS are 4 Type 1- Asynchronous RFC,2- Synchronous RFC, 3- Transnational RFC,4-Queue RFC we are using in SAP during Remote Client copy (T-Code SCC9) between different SAP System this is post installation step of SAP-ECC6.0- without RFC not possible remote client copy step.

Hi,
RFC is defined as Remote File Connectivity.RFC is done for
communicating between 2 servers present in the local
Network or Remote Network.
To do a successfull RFC Connection we need to check OS
level,ping Ip Address and HostName if these requirements
are done a Successful RFC Connection can be made.If RFc
Connection is held between 2 systems then we can create and
do changes to users and Clients if required profiles or
default profiles are given to execute T Codes.

rfc is remote functional cal and we can send roles from system to sytem i,e from dev to qas and qas to pro by creating a transport request number the system itself suggest for rfc and
we can send roles through rfc in tms
