How to schedule background jobs at OS level?

You could invoke a sapevent using a OS script and then have
a SAP background job set to run on a sapevent. I say this
assuming Unix and a job in crontab. I would guess the same
thing could be done on a Windows system.
sapevt TRIGGER_NAME -t
pf=d:\usr\sap\DEV\sys\profile\DEV_DVEBMGS00_SVRNAME nr

I guess yon create a batch file and map this batch file in
SM36 t-code (for e.g. you batch file is located on your
c:\batch (folder name). You can schedule to run this job at
OS level if you go to start-->>program-->accessories--
>>system tools -->> schudule tasks.
In unix you use crontab.
Please correct me if i am wrong.
