dcs is a control system in which the controller elements are
not central in location but are distributed throughout the
system with each component sub-system under the control of
one or more controllers

DCS(distributed control system):
*Group of PLC connected in a single loop, additionaly it
cabable handle more input and output.
*A server and/or applications processor may be included
in the system for extra computational, data collection, and
reporting capability.

DCS means Distributed Control System. In this the
controllers/control are physically/geographically
distributed. For overall control, all the controllers are
exchanging signals in unison with the supervisory controller
(Normally the Main CPU) to control the whole system.
Generally it is a PC based control system

DCS is Nothing but Distributed control System which will be
mainly used in process industries to control a entire plant
operation. The entire plant will be diveded into sub areas
and each will be controlled by separate PLC and all these
PLCs are integrated into one supervisory system where
operator contol and monitoring action takes place.
We can as simply that DCS = SCADA + PLCs.

A distributed control system (DCS) refers to a control
system usually of a manufacturing system, process or any
kind of dynamic system, in which the controller elements
are not central in location (like the brain) but are
distributed throughout the system with each component sub-
system controlled by one or more controllers. The entire
system of controllers are connected by networks for
communication and monitoring.
DCS is a very broad term used in a variety of industries,
to monitor and control distributed equipment.

Answer / lee naidoo
it is system that controls instruments in the plant,
however there are several controleers that are distributed
tthroughout the plant, hence Distributed control systems
(DCS).example one controller controlls the filling of
bottles with milk, another controller controls how the
bottles get packed in a crate, etc.however all these
controllers are networked and share information.

How we will check whether the proximity, which we have is either NPN or PNP, if no data sheet or manual or any details is available to us ???
I want to measure and control level in tank of size 10*5 filled with gasoline, so plz give me the solution with clear details. how to select transmitter and sensors.
Why DP transmitters are subjected to high static pressure test of 100 bar. Though they will be used for very small pressure range
A pressure transmitter with a range of 0-100 bar.The accuracy of the instrument is 1% of upper range value? The pressure indicating transmitter is showing the system pressure is 50 bar. b. When you include the error, what is the minimum possible pressure in our fuel gas system? i. 49.5 bar ii. 49 bar iii. 1 bar iv. 0.5 bar We want to change the filter cartridge. We must depressure the fuel gas system. c. After we depressure the system in preparation for maintenance, the transmitter displays a pressure of +0.1 bar. At this time, what is the possible range of pressures in our fuel system? i. +0.099 to +0.101 bar ii. 0 to +0.2 bar iii. -0.1 to +0.3 bar iv. -0.9 to +1.1 bar
What are the key features of a Distributed Control System? describing the various layers (sensor through to business system interfaces) as well as the hardware, software and security aspects of the DCS.
Reasons for using current as signal
in DCS or PLC we can not put all ai or di,there is calculation through which we can accomodate certain no of digital and analog signal.I need to know that calculation
Close loop and open loop.
1)why we are using mostly Ultrasonic Flow meters to measure flow, rather than Radar waves? 2)why we are using Ultrasonic waves and Radar waves to measure the Level?
