Hi,
There are 3 types of layers and 7 Instances when coming to
SAP .
The 3 types of layers are :
1) Presentation Layer.
2)Application Layer and
3) Development Layer.
These 3 layers together are called as SAP
Architecture. There is another layer which is called as
SAPAS layer when SAP server is connected to Internet. But
usually we consider 3 layers which makes a SAP Architecture.
When Coming to Instances there are 7 instances :
1)Dialog Instance
2)Background Instance
3)Update Instance
4)Enqueue Instance
5)Spool Instance
6)Gateway Instance
7)
Dialog Instance is for SAP logon attempts for SAP Logon
Pad.It is represented with Dia.
Background Instance is used for running background jobs .If
aa job is scheduled job then it is considered as UPD1 and
if the job is not scheduled and run constantly then it is
considered as UPD2
Update Instance for updating information.whenever update by
a particular user is being done on particular code and
another user tries to access the same data then a lock is
created and request is denied for that particular user in
making changes to Update Instance.
Spool Instance always require 4 alphanumeric key words.
Gateway Instance is required for communication between
different Networks located in different locations .
