Answer / raj garg (shimla)

we can define crime as an act which is against the law of a particular state.crime is an offence against the society. As state is responsible for maintaining law and order for the smooth functioning of society, so for that state prescribes some rules.Violation of these rules can create havoc in the society .State punishes those who violate these rules .There are wrongs which affect individual only they are considered as civil wrongs, but those wrongs which affect whole society are considered as crime . So crime means----act against the will of the society ,an act which society doesn't want,an act for which punishment is given such as imprisionment, death penalty etc.
