CTs are Instrument Transformers used for Metering or
sensing where the whole primary current cannot be fed into
meter or relay.Hence the same is porportionately reduced by
ratio and connected to load eg.Ammeter,kwH meter &Relay etc

CT is a instrument transformer which is converting high
current to low current(5amps).In power system we are using
it for metering & for function of protective instruments &
indicating lamps in control panel. These instruments
mechanism can not sustain more current than 5 amp.

it is very easy to standered of primary current e.i
25,50,100,150,200,250,300,400,600,800,1000,1250,1600 and
2000 etc convert in to secondry current in perfect number
between minimum and maximum primary current, losses (i2r)
in ckt very low.
For that purpose 5 is perfect number

Generally allThe CT operated meter is designed for a
capacity arround 5 A , the ct ratio 50/5, 100 / 5 means the
secondary current of the secondary winding will not exceed
more than 5A.Our kwh meter capacity max 5A so consumers more
requirement ex- 50A consumer load so our kwh meter not
measured the reading that cases using ct .ex 50/5 50a flows
in a line meter shows 5A its ratio 50/5 = 10 so ct ratio 10
ex our units 12/day multiply by 10 = 120 units/day

c.t is a current transfarmer which measure electrical current in system. we identify it just that 100/5than the ratio 20:1
that is when primary taken 20 amps current then secondary turn taken 5amp.when we put c.t ratio in digital meter after he showing direct reading .

CT- Current transformer basically design for metering and sensing purpose .and KWH meter basically design for capacity around 5 A . So CT always available in ratio 5 A.

All the cts are oparated in the ranges of primary 25 50
66 ....,depends on reqirement it is only for chekink of the
curent relesed from the t/f and it gives ratio of exactly 5
a ratio ther is no change if any increese or decreese relay
oparation will come into the picture if at any of time will
touch 5A rating high curent will devolope at time of touch
immedeaatly burnt out
