Answer / kishore
the minimum aceptable value of breakdown voltage in BDV
test is >30KV

Answer / nitin arora
It depends on the voltage rating of the transformer
IF transformer rating is less than 72 KV then minimum BDV should be 30 KV.
IF transformer rating is 72 to 170 KV then minimum BDV should be 40 KV.
IF transformer rating is more than 170 KV then minimum BDV should be 50 KV.
All above results are referring the 2.5 MM gap during test.

For veryfication of oil purity every year to be checked the
BDV(breakdown voltage),we have take out the transformer
oil in the transformer and collect in the high voltage kit
inthe kit two stem will be there within the 2mm gap and
then apply the high voltage 50kv for 1 minute and it
shiould be withstand upto the mentioned time.Otherwise oil
to be filtered.

At 765Kv, I have seen the use of PT at line side for metering and CVT for protection, although as far as my knowledge is concern, PT at this voltage level will have huge loss and more cost as compared to CVT as CVT can also perform same function of Protection and Metering? So my question is why use PT and not CVT for metering and protection in order to reduce the cost.
During Testing of Maintenance Free Earthing, How deep should be the Spikes of Earth Test Meter should be inserted in the soil(one spike is 15 Meter & Other spike is 30 Mtrs away from the Main Earth Electrode. Because, recently, we observed that when spike is inserted 3-4 Inch in the earth- results are better, If spike is inserted 1 feet deep than results are increasing.
why transformer calling in VA rating
