in our sub station why we step down firstly 33kv\11kv then 11kv to 430v. can we direct step down 3..

Answer / prateek lau

yes it is possible to step down 33kv directly to 430v but
in that the turn ratio of the transformer would be large
and it will increase the size as well as cost of the
transformer.

in our sub station why we step down firstly 33kv\11kv then 11kv to 430v. can we direct step down 3..

Answer / devesh mishra

yes we can directly step down from 33/.433kv.
the lv side remains constant for 11 or 33kv & hv side
depends on load i.e,

for load upto 4 mva 11kv ht line is required, whereas
for load above 4 mva 33kv ht line is required.

in our sub station why we step down firstly 33kv\11kv then 11kv to 430v. can we direct step down 3..

Answer / cv raman

Genarally load centers are very away from the Generating
stations & scattered too.No of 11/.430KV SS are very high
compared to 33/11KV SS. In the view of construction cost of
the 33/11KV SS is high compared to the 11/.430KV SS. At
this condition , construction cost of 33/0.420KV is very
high compared to the cost of 33/11KV SS. If we propose
33/0.420KV SS in all load centers the no. of ss will become
very high and construction cost will be very high.

Technically we can go for strigh step doun but it is not
economical.

in our sub station why we step down firstly 33kv\11kv then 11kv to 430v. can we direct step down 3..

Answer / nilkanth

yes we can do it.

But it is not feasible since
1]feeder were design on constant current (44kV/11Kv-line
from nearest substation to distribution transformer)
2]Distributor lines designs for constant voltage(11kV/440V-
line from distribution transformer to home)

It is normal practise to have less flctuation at load end.

in our sub station why we step down firstly 33kv\11kv then 11kv to 430v. can we direct step down 3..

Answer / paramesh dutta

Yes, it can be done and it is being done. There are many
such substations with voltage ratio of 33kV/0.433kV.

in our sub station why we step down firstly 33kv\11kv then 11kv to 430v. can we direct step down 3..

Answer / gurucharan singh

because of LV circuit breaker current capacity limitation
upto 3 MVA. Can directly step down from any voltage level
to 415V. but 3 MVA only that around 3150 A in Aluminium Bus
bar or 4000A in cu. bus bar. that about 3.5 MVA.

in our sub station why we step down firstly 33kv\11kv then 11kv to 430v. can we direct step down 3..

Answer / anuj

Yes we can step-down the voltage directly from 33kV to 430V
but it is not feasible since transformers turns will
increase which will ultimatly increases the cost and
secondly laod centres are far more distance than the S/S
which will increase the LT line and eventually the losses
are more in LT line than the HT line. Therefore from S/S to
the load centres, HT lines are running and near the load
centre distribution transformer is installed.By this way we
can reduce the LT line and ultimatly the losses

in our sub station why we step down firstly 33kv\11kv then 11kv to 430v. can we direct step down 3..

Answer / ramesh

Generally we can step up high voltage to low
or low voltage to high voltage for a possible range.
which is balance for our economical stage
but technically it is possible the turn ratio of the
transformer would be large and it will increase the size as
well also differs cost of the transformer.
so that generation for 11 kv increases up-to level ll 750kv
11kv-33kv-66kv--132kv---400kv--750kv
step down as 11kv-440V- 230V-110V

in our sub station why we step down firstly 33kv\11kv then 11kv to 430v. can we direct step down 3..

Answer / bk

Technically it is possible to step down voltage level to
430V directly from any upper voltage level. However, our
power system network is connected to local power plant (may
be a CPP) that generates power at 11KV level. therefore it
is requred bring the network power voltage level to 11KV
for distribution purpose.

in our sub station why we step down firstly 33kv\11kv then 11kv to 430v. can we direct step down 3..

Answer / vrs rathore

Yes we can, but if our exixting system is workable for only
11kv and required capacity is more then 4000kva then we
have to take 33kv connection and after that it has to step
down 11kv for supplying our esisting system, which is
working only for 11kv/430v.
