Well, it totally depends on the company. If it's a mnc, then obviously more rounds will be there. One of my friends has recently got selected in IBM as entry level software programmer after withstanding 4 tough rounds.
Following were the rounds he went through
1. Written Aptitude containing negative marking
2. GD
3.Questions related 2 Various codes used in jaca, c++,c#
4.HR round...Final interview 2 check 1on1 communication skills n salary discussion as software programmer in mnc needs 2 have oral conversation with his/her clients on daily basis.
Rest other companies......minimum is 2 rounds...
A small IT company would also hire agents for software programming after conducting only 1 round of interview....
This is bcz such companies try 2 reduce their cost by not employing certain management people such has operations,etc.. However, 1 round in such companies can take more than 20 minutes 2 complete....
but nowadays this practice is not being followed as most it companies are trying 2 build better corporate relationship with their clients so that in return they get proper monetary rewards.
