Active power is nothing but the actual power ( Kw ) or Real
power Consumed by a load .If we are not maintaining the
power factor at the appreciable value that is if cos0 is
decreasing then sino is increased that is VI SIN o is
reactive power.
cos o = Active power / Apparent Power = Kw / KVA
Reactive power = VI SINo = Kvar.

Answer / chitta
active power is the actual usefulmpower, reactive power
means inductive power which increase means we have to
improve power factor for balancing the system

kVA is apparent power(S),
it consist of Reactive power (Q in var volt ampere
reactive)(for building electric and magnetic fields)
and
Active power (P in W watts))(working power- for heating,
rotating machines,etc )
it is also thru that S² = P² + Q² .

Active Power i.e. real power is KW
Reactive Power is sin o component of Apperent power whereas
the active power is cos o component of apparent power.
cos o=kw/kva
active power=root3(VIcoso)
reactive power=root3(visino)

Answer / rudra
Active Power is real power ,which is utilised to do work.
it is denoted as VI X P.F.
REACTIVE POWER IS USED TO GENERATE MAGNETIC FIELD.
VECTOR SUM OF ACTIVE & REACTIVE POWER IS APPERENT POWER.

Actually in the transmission line the powerflow takes place.
the complete power in the transmission line is known as
total power which is further divided in two parts i.e.
1.active power or real power or apparant power.
2.reactive power or unreal power.
now their work in the transmission line
what exactly they required for...
1.active power:it controls the frequency balance in the
transmission line.
2.reactive power:it controls the voltage balance in the
transmission line.
what happens basically
Total power is denoted by S = P + Q.
where P=active power
Q=reactive power.
when the resistive power get mixed up with the inductive
power it becomes active power & when resistive power mixed
up with the capacitive power it becomes reactive power.
thats why when the inductive load on the transmission line
becomes more then we have to add capacitive reactance to
compensate it & vice-versa...

Answer / suman
Reactive power is nothing but which is delivered by the
inductive load and does not do any usefulwork
Active power is the one which really useful in th system.

Answer / dharam ranjan gupta
active power is nothing but it is the actual power dissipated in the resistance of the circuit.i.e. actual power consumed by the load... usually rated as in watts or kilowatts..
reactive power is the power which is consumed due to the reactance of the circuit.given in kvar.we have not to pay for this power.

Answer / haritha
Active power means power dissipated by resistor and which is
not returned back to source. In case of inductors and
capacitors , those are not power dissipated elements and
they returned back the power to source what ever amount they
have while current is passing through those elements. This
power is called reactive power.
