Answer / rasmi ranjan das

SCR means Silicon control rectifier ie it is a 3 terminal
controlled device where as Diode is a 2 terminal uncontrol
device

what is the differnce between SCR and diode rectifier?..

Answer / harish reddy

Rectifier using scr is a controlled rectifier .
but
rectifier using diode is an uncontrolled Rectifier.

Is This Answer Correct ?    107 Yes 18 No

what is the differnce between SCR and diode rectifier?..

Answer / nithyalakshmi

the angle of rectification can be set in scr but not in
diode .

Is This Answer Correct ?    63 Yes 12 No

what is the differnce between SCR and diode rectifier?..

Answer / shweta

SCR is a controlled rectifier wheras diode is a simple
rectifier, In SCR the gate current controls the firing of
SCR wheras in diode no gate currnt is required for its
control thats why silicon is known as silicon controlled
rectifier.

Is This Answer Correct ?    52 Yes 13 No

what is the differnce between SCR and diode rectifier?..

Answer / sumeet sonigara

SCR has a high voltage handling capacity as compared to a diode

Is This Answer Correct ?    49 Yes 13 No

what is the differnce between SCR and diode rectifier?..

Answer / vinoth

diode is a 2 terminal device.
in scr gate controls the rectifing

Is This Answer Correct ?    43 Yes 9 No

what is the differnce between SCR and diode rectifier?..

Answer / sakthivel.n

SCR is used in High frequency applications but diode is low
freuency devices, SCR can be in high temparatures but not diode.

Is This Answer Correct ?    47 Yes 21 No

what is the differnce between SCR and diode rectifier?..

Answer / thyristor

LET'S SUPPOSE WE HAVE A SINE WAVE[ALTERNATING CURRENT/AC
VOLTAGE]....

IN ORDER TO CONVERT THIS AC VOLTAGE TO DIRECT VOLTAGE WE
USUALLY EMPLOY A DIODE RECTIFIER TO DO THE JOB. THIS DIODE
WILL CONDUCT THE CURRENT NEARLY 180 degrees INTO THE LOAD,
WHEREAS A SCR WILL CONDUCT FROM THE MOMENT IT GETS A PROPER
IMPULSE ON ITS GATE. SCR MAY CONDUCT THE CURRENT ANYWHERE
BETWEEN 0....180degrees, THAT'S WHY IT IS CALLED SILICON
CONTROLLED RECTIFIER, OR THYRISTOR.

Is This Answer Correct ?    29 Yes 3 No

what is the differnce between SCR and diode rectifier?..

Answer / hari patel

SCR is POWER electronics device which can be operated at
high power.Where as diode is simple electronics device.

Is This Answer Correct ?    27 Yes 9 No

what is the differnce between SCR and diode rectifier?..

Answer / anudeep

ACCORDING TO MY KNOWLEDGE SCR IS A THREE TERMINAL THREE
JUNCTIONED DEVICE WHICH IS USED TO RECTIFY AND TO CONTROL
THE BFLOW OF CURRENT.BUT WHERE AS THE DIODE IS USED ONLY
FOR THE RECTIFICATION PURPOSE

Is This Answer Correct ?    22 Yes 7 No
