"Does Salt Affect the Growth of Plants?"
Plants conduct water from their roots, up the stem and into
the leaves. Salt around the roots reverses the flow of
moisture by drawing moisture out of the plant. Plants use
water and carbon dioxide to make carbohydrates using solar
energy. This is what photosynthesis is. As the water supply
decreases, photosynthesis decreases and the plant will
eventually die.
