earth is more important to protect you, so we should be
provide the low resistance path for that.
already we very well known that the area is inversly
proportional to the reistance (R=p*l/a here p=specific
resistance(row), l= length, a = area)
from above
if area increased the resistance is decreased. it cause
the earth is bigger than other.
if area of earth pin small it offerd high resistance path
for earth. it cause we r not get earth easily
r u got it?
i think that it is correct answer for ur question up to my
knowldge

earthing is provided for protection, ie if the body of an
equipment is in contact with current carrying conductor,
the current has to be bypassed to earth so as to avoid
human from getting electric shock. this is done by earthing
the body of the equipment. by earthing we are providing a
low resistance path.ie any how we need to reduce path
resistance. resistance is inversily proportional to area of
cross section of path. thtz y earth hole size is made
bigger. hope u got the point

Who so ever are thinking of low resistance as cause of
bigger hole means bigger earth pin are forgeting the point
that the same earth current on fault is flowing through the
Phase pin and connecting wires , whose area is very less
compared to earth hole or Pin , are also carrying that
fault current and are suitably rated accordingly .
The correct reason is :-
1. While inserting equipment first get earth
connection.as pin goes first and so equipment is
earthed before supply is given
2.While withdrawing the plug the earth connection
disconnects in last. Power disnnect first and
earth in last
Reason of earth Pin larger in diameter than other pins in a
plug socket :-
Accidently also one can not inser earth pin in other
pins .
Both the above features are for foolfroop safety & no other
reason like low restance etc

earth hole size is biggest in plug point because, when we
took out the plug from socket the phase & neutral terminals
of socket comes first then the earth contact. Due to safty
purpose Earth contact should be disconnect at the last
moment this prevent any damage to human being and equipment
as well for any abnormal conditions. Another reason for
that is to keeping large contact area for earth because in
fault like earth & short circuit a large current
approximately 6 times flows through circuit.

earthing is used for human & equipment protection purpose.
resistance of big cross sectional area conductor is less so
current will be flow in low resistance path.

hi
the property of the current is that it takes low resistance
path.
if two resistance is conected in IIel, the current flow
will be more in low resistance.
and Resistance is inversly proportional to area.
when area is more the reistance is low.
if any shock occurs current will flow thro the low
resistance instead of the human(human reistance is more
than earth resistance) that is the concept of having lare
earth pin.

earthing is also use to divert the short-circuit current to
the earth as we knw short circuit current has high value
which is approximately 6 times the rated value so that is
normat rating conductor we use the it get burn or break and
protection could not achive
that is the original reason for it

as the resistance is inversaly proportional to the area of
cross section of the conductor. Due to increase in this
cross section the resistance of that path decreases and
leakage current of the equipment in case of fault can be
passed to earth safely.

R = rowL/A
1.Area is increased. Resistance is Decrease .(r/A)
2.Area is indirectly Prepositional to Resistance.
3.Resistance will be decrease Flow of current will be fast.
4.any short circuited. Current fast flow the low Resistance
Path.
