Density of concrete is 2240-2400 kg/m3.
Density of steel is 7860 kg/m3.
The Pycnometer can be used for determination of the specific gravity of solid particles of both fine grained and coarse grained soils.
As the moisture content of a fixed weight of sand increases, the volume also
increases--up to a point. This is known as bulking of sand.
An under-reinforced beam is one in which the tension capacity of the tensile reinforcement is smaller than the combined compression capacity of the concrete and the compression steel.
An over-reinforced beam is one in which the tension capacity of the tension steel is greater than the combined compression capacity of the concrete and the compression steel.
A balance section is one in which the concrete crushing and steel yielding take place at the same time.
