Answer / manoj

dear as you post your question is not complete.

First of all in any case as per 456:2000

The horizontal distance between parallel main
reinforcement bars shall not be more than three
times of the effective depth of solid slab or
300 mm whichever is smaller.

Let Consider 12 dia of steel @ 175 c/c

Now

A1/A2 = S1/S2

A1 is 12 dia of steel which have total cross section area 113.112 mm2 and S1 is spacing c/c is 175 mm

A2 is the steel which you want to replace have an cross section area is 77.55 mm2 and we need spacing for that.

113.112/78.55 = 175/?

and the answer is 121.52

say 122 mm c/c spacing

you can follow the same formula in any equation but with in norms.
