ADVANTAGES OF TLC OVER PAPER
1. high speed
2. high sensitivity
3. small sample required
4. sharper preparation of sample
5. various reagents are used without damaging plates
6. large choice of adsorbents
7. after development , sample easily separated

Answer / kavitha jai
when compare to paper chrmatograpy TLC having more
advantage because in TLC we are having wide joice of
adsorbent depend upon our sample and development. after
development sample can seperate easily from TLC. higher
version of TLC like HPTLC and more type is their for
purification of the sample.

the superioity of TLC over paper chromatography is TLC
requires less time for separation of aminoacids, plant
pigments etc

The superiority of TLC over paper chromatography
because of inorganic nature of adsorbent concentrated
sulfuric acid spray followed by heating may be used to
develope on the chromatogram by charring.
moreover aminoacid mixtures which require 18 hours for
seperation on paper require 3 hrs using cellulose TLC.
advantage also lies in choice of adsobents which allow
seperation not possible on paper.

In tlc the stationary phase is a silica gel plate vt a supprting medium wher asin papr the sstationary phase is d water present in cellulose. More crrosive reagents can b used in tlc eg. Sulfuric acid, wher as corrosive rgnts cn spoil d stationary phse in paper chromatography.. tlc is a faster less time consuming technique n seperation of d spots is also faster.. most importantly the proper sepearration of d spots in tlc is due to d particle size o f d stationary phase.. here the partcles are evenly packed n siz is smaller ..

1) Higher sample throughput and lower analysis time, as the number of samples that can be separated on one plate in TLC, is far more than the number of samples that can be separated in one paper.
2)Strong reagents can be used for the purpose of identification, as the TLC plate is able to withstand strong solvents and colour-forming agents.
3)TLC plates can be heated to higher temperatures(for spot development) without any damage, which might not be possible in case of PC, lest the paper gets damaged.
4)The sensitivity of detection is more in TLC, as compared to PC, because of lesser spreading of substance zones, in a TLC plate, than what occurs in PC.

TLC is superior over paper in most of the ways but the most
important one is,on TLC plate corrosive reagents can be
used for identification of spots but in paper it gets
charred and the sample spot gets destroyed

InTIC,silica gel acts as a stationary phase.
In PC, water present in the cell use of paper is stationary phase

Answer / gayatri
in tlc silica gel is used as ststionary phase. in paper
cromatography paper itself is used as a stationary phase
