purines and pyrimidines are nitrogen bases.
purines contains 6 membered pyrimidine ring fused to a 5
membered imidazole ring.
adenine and guanine are the major purines.
adenine is 6-amino derivative of parent purine,guanine is 2-
amino,6-oxypurine.
pyrimidines is a 6 membered hetero cyclic compound.
pyrimidines are uracil,thymine,cytosine.
