What is difference between 220v/50Hz & 120V/60Hz?

Answer Posted / bilal ahmad

Basicaly Pakistan, Uk, Europ are using 50hz and have
advantage less losses in reactive and easy transmission on
high voltage and disadvantade is large size of machine and
USA,KSA have 60 hz have advantage of smal size of machine
mean low coast and disadvantage is more losses in reactve
lose and low level of transmition
but both system have some advantage and disadvantage and
both area are try to improve their disadvantage to suite
the system for future

ii) A shunt motor supplied at 230V, runs at 900 rpm when the current is 30A. The resistance of the armature is 0.4 ohms. Calculate the resistance required in series with the armature to reduce the speed to 600 rpm, assuming that the armature current is then 20A. [12]
