why ?it can also be like this,when carpet is beaten with a stick the carpet does not come in motion because of its larger mass than dust particles and thus particles loses its inertia and come out of the carpet and falls down due to gravitation.


INERTIA OF A BODY = MASS OF A BODY
inertia is directly proportional to mass of the body.
