If the letters of the word ?rachit? are arranged in all
possible ways and these words are written
out as in a dictionary, what is the rank of the
word ?rachit?.
(a) 485
(b) 480
(c) 478
(d) 481

arrange rachit in the alphabetical order then it will be
a,c,h,i,r,t
then consider the first word in rachit ...it is r
strike of it and count the number of words before it
a,c,h,i,t so there are 4 words
which is the coefficient of 5!
then go for "a"(as it is the second letter in the word )
..strike it off and count the number of words before it in
the arranged order as did earlier ..there will be zero
so 0 ,which is the coefficient of 4 !
and similarly consider all
the answer will be
4*5!+0+0+0+0+1=481....
