There are number of possibilities for identifying the
eluents from the column. Try passing the eluent through a
UV beam if any of the eluents fluoresce. You could also
pass the eluent through a set up with an IR source and
detector or a refractive index measuring instrument. Any
of these alternatives could be used quantitatively.
