WHAT HAPPENS IF FUSE IS CONNECTED TO NEUTRAL WIRE

Answer / rajesh
if fuse is connected in the neutral, it will perform its job as a circuit breaker properly, but as the supply(phase) wire is still connected to the load, when anyone touches the load, he will suffer from a severe shock.

Fuse will not blown out during Earth fault.
if fuse is connected in neutral, during over load/ short
circuit fuse blown off but phase supply reach the equipment
is danger for humen safety also poaitive isolation is not
possible by removing the fuse.

Answer / paul
fuses in the neutral conductor only are just WRONG, should always be in the Phase .
Yes fuses in the neutral conductor will see short circuits phase-neutral and also over loads. But will not see earth faults depending on your earthing arrangement.

In single phase system, nothing will happen. If there is any
higher current flowing and any short circuit occurs neutral
fuse will blown off if it is weaker than fuse in phase and
hence electrical apparatus will not work.
But in 3 phase system, we should not provide fuse in neutral
link, why because, even if we divide the loads equally in
three phases, some time, some of the loads may be switched
off. At that time load will not be balanced. During that
time neutral fuse blows off if any reason, phase voltage
will be increased where the load is less compare to the
other phases which causes electrical apparatus in that phase
will burn.

WHAT SHOULD BE THE BEST CURRENT RATINGS (PRIMARY / SECONDARY)FOR A CT INSTALLED AT THE INCOMING 11KV PANE? WILL IT BE CALCULATED ON THE BASES OF MAXIMUM DEMANT VALUE OR ON SUM OF ALL TRANSFORMER'S KVA? NOMALLY MAX DEMAND REPRESENT THE MAXIMUM OPERATING LOAD OF THE PLANT AND TOTAL KVA OF (SAY 5 NUMBERS TRANSFORMERS) REPRESENT THE CONNECTED LOAD. WHICH i.e. MAX DEMAND KVA OR CONNECTED KVA ARE BETTER TO USE FOR CT CURRENT CALCULATION? PLEASE ANSWER.
