how we protect the motor & what are the components required for that ?..

Answer / omar aziz

There are many things that need consideration while
protecting a motor. Motor faliures mainly occur due to
winding faliure. This could be due to overcurrent ,
overvoltage, etc... Back in the early days people strongly
relied on fuses but now we have motor protection relays
that monitor tempratures , currents , voltages etc.. ex GE
MULTILIN MOTOR PROTECTION RELAY

how we protect the motor & what are the components required for that ?..

Answer / kalolia alap r

depend on the kind of current,i.e both a.c and d.c required
protection.. motor required starters, like basic D.O.L etc.
in small motor we do not required armature resistance but in
large size of motor,we required large armature
resistance..basicaly required component is resistence in
megaohms and some times induction regulator like auto
transformers....
