a reciprocating compressor is used to deliver air with high
pressure and in small quantity.it uses movement of piston
to craete vaccum inside the cylinder.whereas centrifugal
compressor uses blowers or fans to create vaccum and is
used to deliver air with low pressure and in large quantity

A reciprocating compressor is a compressor that uses
pistons driven by a crankshaft to deliver gases at high
pressure and Centrifugal compressor includes pumps, fans,
blowers

Reciprocating compressor deliver gas with high pressure and mass of flow rate small due to reciprocation motion.it is used for less mass flow rate.etc mostly used pneumatic air.
Centrifugal compressor deliver gas with low pressure and mass flow rate high due to centifugal mation.it is used for high mass flow rate.etc mostly used in turbine.
