we can calculate power factor using formula
P = SQRT(3)* V * I * COS(PHAI)
but for deciding whether leading or lagging p.f we need
complex power
i.e. KVA = KW + j*KVAR or KVA = KW - j*KVAR

cos(pie)=active power /apparent power..
i.e cos(pie)= KW/KVA
