A preheat fluorescent lamp "starter" (automatic starting
switch) is required in bigger tubes which must be struck at
high voltage in the range of a thousand volts. When
starting the lamp, a glow discharge will appear over the
electrodes of the starter. This glow discharge will heat
the gas in the starter and cause the bi-metallic electrode
to bend towards the other electrode. When the electrodes
touch, the two filaments of the fluorescent lamp and the
ballast will effectively be switched in series to the
supply voltage. This causes the filaments to glow and emit
electrons into the gas column by thermionic emission. this
process is repeated by the starter untill the spontanious
filament emition.

while starting tne tube light inside there will no passage
to flow electrons to energige both side tube electrodes and
circuit will complete. after certain time the starter will
braak the circuit then due to the ballast will oppose
sudden change in current and develops huse voltage (approx.
more than 1000 volts) that time the mecury vapour in the
tube light will pass one end to another and and closes the
circuit continiously still it switch off.

Before i went to bed my master bathroom lights were working fine. At 2 am, when I went to use the lights, none of them were working. The outlets throughout the bathroom work, but the lights and fan above the toilet don't. I have two panels of switches. The one panel has four switches. One of the switches turns on the hall light, and that works. The other three are to other lights, and they don't. The other panel has three switches. One of those is to the fan, and the other is to a light above the toilet. The other is a to light that is also on that other panel. I tried the breakers, and the one that turns off the outlets, marked for the bathrooom, turns on and off the outlets. None seemed to be tripped. I checked the lightbulbs, and they are fine. Please help
