Neutral is the return path of normal running current,But
for safety & Protection purpose we are doing earthing of an
equipment which will carry during fault condition

Neutral is necesary for any electrical circuit & which is
used for return path of current of live main wire.
Earthing is provide for prevent from shock.Earthing is
connected to outside body of equipment.
Earhing can used as neutral but Neutral can't used as
earthing.

FOR ANY EQUIPMENT TO WORK SIMPLE THING IS THE CIRCUIT
SHOULD BE CLOSED SO ALONG WITH THE PHASE,NEUTRAL IS
PROVIDED TO COMPLETE THE CIRCUIT AND TO PROVIDE THE RETURN
PATH.......
AND EARTHING IS PROVIDED ONLY FOR THE PROTECTION
PURPOSE.....
DURING ANY FAULTY CONDITION OR ABNORMAL CONDITION.....
THE METALLIC PART OF ANY EQUIPMENT IS CONNECTED TO GROUND...

Neutral is the return path for the current flows in heathy
operating condition & earthing is the path through which
the current flows towards earth in faulty condition to
protect the system because in faulty situation this current
will be several times higher than the normal operation.
As per the equations:
I=V/R &
R=rho.l/a
For the Neutral wire, for normal operating condi,'I' will be
less,so'R' of the wire should be high, there for Neutral
wire are usually of more lenght & of smaller cross
sectional area. Same things are just opposite in earthing
wire.

A neutral is a return path for the normal current. It may
be trough earth or floating depending on the usage of the
power system. In case of earthed neatrals, the return
current flows through earth. How ever earthing is also done
in two cases. One in the neutral earthing, which is
explained above. The second is the body earthing, which is
done to flow the fault current to earth, which activates
the prtective devices and causes a trip of the system in
fault conditions. Without proper earthing the protective
devices can not work.

In any system there are phase and neutral, where phase is
live while neutral is refrence wire. And this refrence wire
can be used to make the path availiable for returning
current. While its not necessary that this neutral may be at
zero potential(in case of faults).
But the ground is refrence with zero potential, in our
systems to increase capacity and fault current protection
Neutral point is grounded, this aslo prevents shock,
