but differnce is only of power factor if consider unity pf than kw=kva
kw=v*a*pf*1000
kva=v*a*1000

kw is the active power whereas kva is reactive power.in all m/cs generally active power is consumed and reactive power is not considered in household light bill

Both are power units. Voltage multiplied by current.
The difference is normally KVA has a power factor following it i.e., it is used in Ac measurements.
KW = Kilo volt * Current
KVA = Kilovolt * Current * power factor
When power factor =1, then KVA = KW
