Dissolve 1gm of compound in 100ml 0f water and check the pH 
if  pH is 1-7 then compound is acidic
if pH is 7-14 then basic

eg:
acidic groups are ionisable and protanated or neutral form like CooH, OH, ketone etc (Polar)

Basic drugs are anaionic like NH3, no2 etc (Non-polar)
